Synopsis
In the summer of 1979, violinist Isaac Stern undertook a musical tour of China that was documented in the Oscar-winning film "From Mao to Mozart: Isaac Stern in China." Now, 20 years later, Stern returns to Beijing to conduct a series of musical encounters, reacquainting himself with the musicians he met as children. In addition to the music, the program reveals the changes that have transpired in China over two decades, showing Stern as he coaches a number of gifted Chinese students in major works of chamber music repertory.
