Synopsis
Four programs exploring current pressing political issues against the backdrop of the wisdom contained in "The Federalist Papers." Each program uses the Socratic dialogue format of hypothetical situations, allowing panelists to play the roles of participants. Panelists include several Supreme Court justices, senators, congressmen and congresswomen, scholars and members of the media. Topics include the tensions between the president and Congress during a foreign policy crisis; the constitutional limits of the federal government on gun control issues, federal funding and its ability to influence state policies, the federalization of state crimes, and anti-federal paranoia that has led to the resurgence of organized militias; technology and the struggle for privacy; and the influence of special interest monies, America's party system and reform initiatives.
