Synopsis

A historical drama, set in the late 1800s, exploring the marriage of Robert Terrell, a candidate for high court in Washington, D.C., and Mary Church Terrell. He is a loyal supporter of Booker T. Washington, while his wife differs with Washington's views. When Mary is to attend the founding convention of the NAACP -- a controversial organization at that time -- Booker T. Washington sends a letter to Robert implying that his candidacy for the court position will be in jeopardy if his wife continues her activist work. This is the first episode of the PBS series, "Ossie & Ruby" which is produced and hosted by the acclaimed husband-and-wife team, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. The anthology series spotlights the works of not-yet known American writers, producers, and directors, and often stars the two hosts.
