Synopsis
The story chronicles a fictional encounter between 11-year-old Roberto and legendary Italian artist/architect/engineer Leonardo da Vinci, who buys birds from Roberto's mother in order to study their flight. The two offer each other moral support after both receive bad news: Roberto's mother is injured in a calvary accident, while Leonardo becomes a marked man when his patron Il Moro, the Duke of Milan, clashes with the French. In the depths of despair, Leonardo takes heart from the example of his young friend, who risks his own well-being to show faith in the inventor's work.
