Synopsis
On the South Bank of the Thames, across the water from Parliament, a giant wheel reaches into the sky over London at 450 feet in diameter. This tourist attraction revolves with 832 people at a time in specially-designed safety glass capsules, allowing them to see 20 miles in every direction. Yet, the construction of the Millennium Wheel was also a race against time, aiming to open to the public in the first week of the new millennium, and a battle to perfect new technology. The program follows the daily traumas and growth of the Millennium Wheel, one of the world's most difficult artistic and technical ambitions, which ended up missing the millennium and opened to the public on February 1, 2000.
