Synopsis
In July, 1985, 15,000 women from 150 countries across the world gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for Forum '85, the conference that marked the end of the United Nation's Decade for Women. Women representing every level of society, every race, religion, and political persuasion gathered there to exchange ideas, to listen, and to learn how to improve not only their own lives but conditions for women across the world. The film follows Byllye Avery and her Georgia-based self-help group, the National Black Women's Health Project, as they share common problems in workshops and informal discussions with women from other cultures.
