Synopsis

Hope Talmadge's life was full of the promise of an 11-year-old until a car accident left her mentally disabled. Amanda Talmadge could never come to terms with her daughter's imperfections and sent Hope away to special schools and group homes her entire life. Now 30, Hope strives to live a normal life with her husband Bernie, who was born developmentally disabled, and their healthy 11-year-old daughter Libby. When the closing of their group home forces a reunion between mother and daughter, Amanda is introduced to her only granddaughter. In Libby, Amanda sees the perfect child that Hope once was. When Hope realizes that her daughter's affection is being stolen from her, she confronts her mother, challenging the already tenuous family dynamic. With their unresolved emotional issues finally aired, mother, daughter and grandmother must come to terms with their individual roles within the family.
