Synopsis
Profile of Ethel Kennedy, born in 1928 to a family of a self-made millionaire. In college, Ethel's roommate, Jean Kennedy, introduced Ethel to her brother, Robert. It was love at first sight and they married in 1950. Ethel fit into the Kennedy family and soon started a large family of her own. Her happiness was shaken in 1955 by the death of her parents from the mid-air explosion of their private plane. Ethel became interested in politics once Robert was in the limelight as chief counsel of the senate rackets committtee. When Jack Kennedy became president and Bobby the attorney general, Ethel took on many official duties. In 1963, when the president was assassinated, Ethel was the resilient one who helped Bobby through his grief and onto a race for senator of New York. While she was a senator's wife, she was also mother to 10 children. In the spring of 1968, Ethel convinced Bobby that he could successfully run for the presidency, but in June of 1968, Robert Kennedy was shot and killed.
