Synopsis
The Mississippi Delta has been home to generations of Jewish families. A Jewish community thrived for more than a century as its members forged a hybrid identity out of their religious and regional heritage. Through the eyes of the handful of Jews who remain there, this documentary traces the history of the community, examining the challenges faced by Jews in a society steeped in Southern pride, dominated by fundamental Protestantism and historically divided along racial lines. The film's subjects discuss the challenges of assimilation and anti-semitism, consider the relationship between African-Americans and Jews and offer a frank view of the difficult choices that confronted Jews during the region's troubled history.
