Synopsis
A story of conquest, set in the early 16th century, that shows how small European armies dominated native American cultures in violent confrontations that sealed the destiny of a continent. The massive clash of cultures is shown through the eyes of heroic leaders, foot soldiers and onlookers. The story focuses on Hernan Cortes and the dawn of the Aztec conquest, Montezuma's downfall and the Inca conquest in search of gold. The program goes from the steamy jungles and beaches of the Caribbean and Panama, where the Spanish first hatched their dream of Empire, to the battlegrounds of Central Mexico and the mighty Andes of Peru.
