Synopsis
Many of today's prominent port cities evolved in the wake of the small square-rigged sailing ships of the last century, but with the rise of ships powered by steam-engines at the turn of the century, sailing ships have all but disappeared. This documentary traces the monumental effort of the prominent port city of Galveston, Texas, to restore its own past glory in the form of a nineteenth-century merchant vessel, a square-rigged barque named "Elissa," and its once famous Strand district.
