Synopsis
The Kaokoveld borders the Skeleton Coast of Namibia and is home to the desert elephants. Viewers follow the elephants' plight on their endless search for water during a period of 15 months without rain. The desert elephants can only survive in this harsh environment because of their long memories. The knowledge of where to find food and when to cross the desert is handed down from generation to generation. After 15 months, the dry season deepens into severe drought, but a distant storm causes the river to swell. For a few days the river becomes an oasis.
