Synopsis

Telecast of Arthur Miller's play, "Death of a Salesman," from the stage of the Eugene O'Neill Theater in New York City. Reveals the tragedy of one man and his family, and what happens to them as they get caught up in the pressures and delusions of trying to live the American Dream. A traveling salesman's illusions of picture-perfect business and family life cave in on him. Instead of getting his hoped-for promotion, he's about to get fired. Instead of his two sons, Biff and Happy, becoming big successes in business, they're on the skids themselves. Old wounds are reopened by Biff's unexpected homecoming, and when Biff confronts the family's history of lies and deceit, neither Happy's nor devoted wife Linda's attempts at reconciliation can prevent the devastating consequences.
