Synopsis
Prince Edward presents this documentary which offers insights into the private lives of his late great uncle former King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, the American he loved and for whom he abdicated the throne. In Part 1, entitled "The Gilded Cage," Prince Edward interviews people who knew the Duke and Duchess and tours the Windsors' Parisian villa and the private Windsor archive in London. In Part 2, "The End of the Affair," Prince Edward explores the king's damaging visit to Nazi Germany and the harsh realities that faced his great uncle after the abdication, including exile, estrangement from the family and the outrage of his former subjects.
