Synopsis

A widowed father launches a desperate search for his infant son, despite the misgivings of family, friends and police who believe the child is dead. Jack Shoat is concerned about his wife's bouts with depression after having given birth to their son. When she is found dead, along with an apparant suicide note, the police tell Jack that his son is missing and presumed dead.

Jack, however, refuses to accept that his wife, Laurie, could have killed their baby. As time goes by, Jack becomes more and more remote, and suffers from nightmares from his past. After Anne Ross, a newspaper reporter, finds evidence that his baby might be alive, and that the crime might not be what it appears to be, Jack is able to come to terms with his past.
