Synopsis
As the title sums it up, this is a dramatization of real-life treasure hunter Mel Fisher's 17-year search for a sunken Spanish galleon, Nuestra Senora de Atocha, which had sunk in a storm off the Florida Keys in 1622. On July 20, 1985, the ocean yielded to Fisher and his crew the encrusted remains of the ship and a payload worth hundreds of millions of dollars, over which he spent the next year fighting the State of Florida through the courts.
