Synopsis

Documentary that examines the events surrounding the death of 3-day-old Conor McInnerney. The infant had stopped breathing and paramedics took Conor to the only hospital in the Port Angeles, Washington, area. The ER physician, Dr. Bruce Rowan, administered cardiac drugs and got Conor's heartbeat going. Infant resuscitation expert, Dr. Eugene Turner, was called in. Turner continued resuscitation, but to no avail. Conor couldn't breathe on his own. His parents consented to remove Conor from life support. But within minutes, a nurse noticed the baby breathing and picked him up. Resuscitation efforts resumed. Around midnight, Turner asked to be alone with the baby. A nurse found Turner smothering Conor. The death became a murder case. Six weeks after Conor's death, Dr. Bruce Rowan bludgeoned his wife to death and staged an elaborate scene to make it look like an accident. A well-known Washington attorney defended Rowan by crafting a theory that Turner's act triggered a psychotic episode in Rowan.
