Synopsis
Documentary utilizing archival material, personal photo collections, on-camera interviews and dramatic re-creations to tell seven stories of 12 people -- men, women and children -- who gave their lives in the struggle for racial equality in the United States during the 1950s and '60s in the Jim Crow South. Tells the events surrounding the deaths of Medgar Evers (1963; Viola Liuzzo (1965), Vernon Dahmer, Sr. (1966), Reverend James Reeb (1965), and Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner and James Chaney, three young civil rights workers (1964). Recounts the murders of black children: Emmett Till (1955), and Denise McNair, Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley, young girls who died when their Birmingham, Alabama, church was bombed in 1963.
