Synopsis
Three-part adaptation of the novels of Ellis Peters about a 12th-century, crime-solving Welsh monk, Brother Cadfael. In these three episodes: Cadfael tries to clear his novice Oswin of charges that the raped and murdered a nun found dead at the bottom of a frozen brook; the motives of a young man who is aggressively seeking permission to join Shrewsbury Abbey as a novice are questioned; the murder of a cantankerous travelling merchant upsets the annual festivities of the Shrewsbury Fair.
