Synopsis
In 1984, Michael Alig, a 17-year-old from South Bend, Indiana, descended on the New York club scene. The program recounts how the party promoter's acts of outrage and his glittering world of in-your-face club-kids made hedonism commercial again, and Michael a star -- until his dependence on the next designer drug provoked a fall. In March 1996, reeling from months of heavy drug use, Michael Alig and an accomplice murdered drug-dealer Andre "Angel" Melendez. Alig left the body in his apartment for a week, told friends and acquaintances of the murder, then dismembered it, and threw it into the Hudson. Alig brazenly stoked the rumors, and the police seemed all-to-ready to ignore the murder of a low-level drug dealer, until Angel's legless torso washed up on the shores of Staten Island, and Alig's seemingly endless party came to a halt.
