Synopsis
When World War II broke out in 1914, pilots of opposing sides would wave to each other as they passed. There were no weapons in the air at first, just planes for observation. Soon handguns were introduced for the pilots, then a machine gun for the observer in the second seat. But the true fighter aircraft was born when Anthony Fokker installed a synchronized forward firing machine gun in his monoplane. From that moment on, when two pilots faced each other, they had the intent to shoot each other down. Therefore, tactics were developed to enable man and machine to win or escape. The program illustrates the inside track into dogfighting tactics, which began in World War II, through the eyes of the pilots who fought these battles in the sky.
