Synopsis
A documentary about the revolutionaries that fought for American independence. "Rebels With a Cause" covers the years 1770-1774, which showed the beginnings of political agitation -- the Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, First Continental Congress and other rebellious acts of a group of loyal British citizens on the road to treason. "Taking Liberties" begins in 1775, as the patriots argue among themselves and war looks unavoidable. From Lexington and Concord to the Second Continental Congress, the election of Washington as Commander of the Army to the publishing of "Common Sense," a spirit of independence grows. "You Say You Want a Revolution" covers the year 1776. After undeclared war simmers for a year, the Declaration of Independence changes everything. As peace talks fail, the war begins and the down-and-out Army is revived with victories at Trenton and Princeton. "Healthy Constitution" covers the years 1777-1789. The British are defeated and a new nation struggles to find itself. After the Articles of Confederation fail, a Constitutional Convention sets in motion American government and the election of George Washington.
