Synopsis

In the mid-south in 1966, small town lawyer Daniel Stewart is facing the opportunity of a lifetime -- to be the first black congressman from his district. The challenge of Daniel's campaign is heightened when the wife of incumbent Horton Roundtree is found murdered in her bed. The suspect is poor black carpenter, Curtis Gallagher, who was seen running from the Roundtree house in the middle of the night. And it is no secret that Curtis was more than just a carpenter to the young Mrs. Roundtree. Meanwhile, Daniel's family receives death threats as a result of his participation in the trial. This conjures up painful memories for Daniel and his wife, Olivia, as they recall the murder of their own son. A sequel to the television movie, "To Dance With Olivia."
