Synopsis
Television movie that covers the pivotal time in the life of author Laura Ingalls Wilder as she leaves the secure, familiar arms of her pioneer family to begin a new life as a wife and mother. In 1944, memories of her blossoming adulthood overcome an elderly Laura Ingalls Wilder as she travels back to the region in South Dakota where she lived over 50 years earlier. Laura recalls the Ingalls' shanty on their Dakota territory homestead claim, where as a spirited 16-year-old she delighted in the arrival of intriguing farmer Almanzo Wilder, in 1881.
