Synopsis

Documentary about the world of the chimpanzee. Although the chimpanzee is more closely related to humans then to gorillas and orangutans, they still live life as one of the three great apes. Despite origins in the trees, chimps do 90 per cent of their traveling on the ground. As their long thumbs are easily caught on branches and twigs, chimps are more climbers than swingers. In spite of constant rivalry within the group, male members band together to fiercely defend their home range from chimpanzees of rival groups. And though rare in the animal kingdom, sex isn't just about reproduction, it's regularly used as a form of bonding or to diffuse a tense situation.
