Synopsis
In 2200 BC, the Egyptian empire tottered. The great pyramids of Giza had just been built, but suddenly pyramid building stopped. Hieroglyphs of the time told of appalling suffering, but records of the time do not explain exactly what caused this social devastation. The program follows geologist and archaeologist Fekri Hassan, who has spent thirty years researching the time period seeking to discover what could have almost destroyed such a great civilization. By combining geological, atmospheric and historical data, Hassan has come to believe that worldwide global cooling may have been the cause.
