The series is a blend of cinema verite footage, original interviews, music and media images and reveals the joys, hardships and nuances of daily life for Karen Wilson, Bill Sims and their two daughters -- an interracial family in Queens, New York. Filmmaker Fox discusses the significance of the series, which is the first in-depth exploration of American family life since the seminal television series, "An American Family," produced by Thirteen/WNET in the 1970s.
