Synopsis
Deep in Ecuador's rainforest a new consciousness is emerging. The ancient Cofan, an indigenous people living along the banks of the Rio Aguarico, are taking on big oil companies. The Cofan live in harmony with nature and are grappling with the companies to save their piece of the rainforest and prevent the devastation of oil exploration and extraction. With the help of "American Chief" Randy Borman, son of missionary parents and a bridge between Western and Cofan cultures, the Cofan have organized themselves against a multitude of threats. Bill Kurtis and Field Museum of Chicago scientists travel to Ecuador to document the unfolding drama.
