Synopsis

Phineas T Barnum tells the story of his life and career. Beginning in 1825 with a lottery scam, the rise of the budding showman and impresario is traced through his move to New York City and management of Jenny Lind, the "Swedish Nightingale," and General Tom Thumb. At age 65 he creates a circus greater than any known before -- "The Greatest Show On Earth," and in 1880 merges with James A Bailey's International Allied Shows to form the mammoth "Barnum & Bailey Circus."
