Synopsis
Documentary that tells the story of U-boat 505, the only U-boat captured by the U.S. Navy during World War II, on June 4, 1944. The U-505 was the first enemy ship that the U.S. Navy captured in the battle on the high seas since the war of 1812. Using footage shot on the day of the attack, the program shows how Captain Daniel Gallery and the men of U.S. Naval Task Force 22.3 pulled off this nearly impossible feat. It also tells the entire story of the U-505 -- from its days as a powerhouse of the German fleet to its final journey to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, where it is permanently docked.
