Synopsis
Sergio, thirty, works in a big supermarket. His wife Angela, born in Spain, is expecting a child the doctors have diagnosed as having a serious malformation. The child is not expected to live. When the baby is born, he's baptised Miguel Juan, in honour of an inhabitant of Angela's home village who had received a miracle. Angela prays for her child. Sergio, lacking his wife's faith, is plunged into desperation. This is compounded by his implication in the investigation into the rape of a young woman who had taken her own life after the violence. While gathering information about Sergio, police Commissioner Sironi gets involved in the events concerning Miguel Juan: the fate of the newborn baby catalyses existential tension and anguish, breaking down both Sergio and Angela.
