Synopsis

Donna, a precocious 9-year-old, inherits $30 million when her father dies. The will stipulates that she must choose one of her six uncles to be her new father. Accompanied by the family chauffeur, Willard, she visits each of the uncles: James, an old ferryboat captain; Everett, a circus clown; Eddie, an airline pilot; Julius, a fashion photographer; Skylock, a private investigator; and "Bugs," a gangster. All are well-meaning except Everett, who hates children, and "Bugs," who tries to kidnap Donna and hold her for ransom. None of them really appeals to her, but "Uncle Everett" turns up to claim her. Donna recognizes Willard disguised as the clown and is happy to choose him as her adopted father.
