Synopsis

The story of Lill, a spirited prairie woman, and Lachlan, a dashing Australian airman. Like thousands of others, they come together through circumstances of war--the creation of nearly 100 air bases across Canada as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Program--to briefly share a few precious moments of youth, laughter and love in the shadows of an unpredictable world and its uncertain future. Their story becomes interwoven with that of Betsy, a bootlegging beauty who teaches the boys how to love, and Zeek, a flight instructor from Chicago who teaches them how to kill. Together, Lill and Lachlan share a time that cuts through convention to the heart of another reality, if only for the moment.
