Synopsis
An overview of Louisiana's diverse musical traditions, which range from zydeco, funk, rockabilly and bluegrass through to gospel and blues. A number of performances are seen as well as interviews with musicians and academics.
Begun as an official of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bus tour through New Orleans and Southwestern Louisiana, this triptych ditches the tourists and takes a ride through Louisian's musical backwaters bayous. Regional experts guide this trip from historic concert halls to po' boy joints, blues dives, zydeco clubs, gospel churches and intimate family gatherings--capturing music in all four corners of the state, arguably the first time this has even been attempted, much less accomplished. Along the way, many of Lousiana's most distinctive musicians Frankie Ford, Henry Butler, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, Kermit Rurffins, Dale Hawkins, the Hackberry Ramblers and Henry Gray & the Hurricanes, and many more are captured in their typically exotic surroundings.
