Synopsis
Jasmine Wilde is a single mother living in Georgia, trying to raise her teenage daughter Izzy in a normal American setting, while keeping secret her past as a famous singer. Sierra, Izzy's teacher and Jasmine's best friend, notices that Izzy shares that special singing talent and she invites a record producer to watch Izzy perform at a school talent show. He asks Izzy to come to Los Angeles where she has the chance to launch her singing career. However, Jasmine recalls her unfavorable past experiences in the music business and does not allow Izzy to go. When Izzy discovers teen magazines with her mother's face on the cover, Jasmine's long-kept secret is revealed. She tells her daughter of her past and that the music business is a cruel world, but that only gives Izzy more drive to pursue her singing career. Reluctantly, Jasmine gives in and mother and daughter make the trip to Los Angeles where Jasmine faces her past and deals with her daughter's aspirations.
