Synopsis

When Kotaro and Kuroe meet for the first time, it's love at first sight. One thing's clear for the two of them - they'll stay together til death do us part. One day, Kuroe collapses. An x-ray reveals something that looks like a flower bud on her right lung. An operation is performed and a water lily is removed. Fascinated, Kuroe takes the flower back to her apartment. Not long after this, Kuroe collapses once more. This time, the other lung is affected and - another lily bud is discovered. Kuroe refuses to have a second operation and simply returns home with Kotaro. When Kotaro notices that Kuroe's water lily shrinks whenever it is near to other plants, he rushes off to get plenty of freshly cut flowers. He continues to do this on a regular basis until one day, he loses his job. Kotaro is frantic - where will he find the money to buy the never-ending supply of fresh flowers? Then one day, Kotaro is offered a job in a flower shop...
