Synopsis

Memoir of Neil Simon's formative years in New York as a television comedy writer. Recreating the golden age of television when comedy was king and Simon was a writer of "Your Show of Shows" starring Sid Caesar, the telefilm takes viewers into the eclectic, volatile writers' den and into the life of the fictional comedian Max Prince. This talented but self-destructive television personality, of a hit show in the 1950s, attempts to maneuver his teetering career through obstacles presented by the Network, the oppressive McCarthy regime and the challenge of keeping his home life intact.
