Synopsis
North Belfast in the autumn of 1994 and a group of Loyalist paramilitaries are trying to come to terms with the latest cease-fire. UDP politician Alec sees legitimate career opportunities and a place in history, instructing his UFF lieutenant Larry to discipline the foot soldiers he has trained as dogged terrorists. Larry turns to the astute Kyle, insisting he make his four-man unit a model of the new restraint. Kyle has respected the chain of command up until now, his paramilitary activities having bought him stature within his community. But he's frustrated that the war stories are no longer going to get him a free drink, he lacks faith in politics and sees the cease-fire as a concession to Republicanism. He also has to deal with comrade Freddie as the devil in his ear, a man driven by a hatred of Catholics and a desperate desire to return to combat.
