Synopsis

The Buffalo War documents the clash between Native Americans, ranchers and radical environmentalists over the killing of America's last wild buffalo herd. Each winter, Montana livestock officials kill bison when they migrate out of Yellowstone National Park in search of grazing land. This film explores the controversy over the killing by documenting a 500-mile spiritual march across Montana by Lakota Sioux Indians who object to the slaughter. Led by the Lakota elder, Rosalie Little Thunder, the marchers rediscover their cultural connection to bison and learn the power of tradition and sacrifice.
