Synopsis

A 19-year old American girl, Lucy travels to the lush countryside of Tuscany to spend the summer with family friends. She has two motives. The first is to renew her acquaintance with the handsome young boy from a neighboring family with whom she had shared her first kiss on a visit four years earlier. The memory of that kiss continues to haunt her long after his passionate letters to America stopped arriving. And the second is to solve the riddle left in a diary written by her mother, Sara, a respected poet and model. Sara, who was a free spirit eager for experience, but shy of responsibility, has left Lucy clues that lead her to believe that the answer to the mystery might very well be found amidst the splendor of the olive groves that punctuate the Italian landscape.
