Two production assistants, Ken Woodburn and Brad Schultz, who allegedly came up for the idea to this film, began a legal battle against Broken Twig in December 1995. Jim Rossow, another production assistant and friend of the complainants also brought Broken Twig up on charges. After learning of the idea, Rossow says he wrote the script with Neil Mandt. Mandt maintains Rossow sold him the rights and offered him money and a story credit, but Rossow is demanding additional payment for rights and a part of the profits.
