Synopsis

The damp sultriness of the Amazon and the dry heat of the Sahara, a honeymoon full of empty passion, a thieving bird which vanishes with a gold ring, a boy who sees with the eyes of a snake... HALFMOON takes three of Bowles' greatest (and strangest) short works and brings them intact to the screen. In the first story, a friendship is tested by a seductively beautiful woman and the pleasures of kif. The second story joins a honeymoon in progress, as two Americans journey farther and farther up an Amazonian River, only to find the effects of the jungle filling their empty relationship. And the hauntingly mysterious third story chronicles a young boy's soul exchange with a poisonous cobra. Bowles himself introduces the stories, and provides insightful, esoteric commentary on each.
