Synopsis

The story is told through interviews with survivors and historians, letters and photos, as well as rare archival footage. The chronicle explores the refugees relationships with the Chinese and the occupying Japanese forces; the attempts of the American Jewish community to help their brethren, and the rich cultural life that was created out of extreme hardships and tragedy.
