Synopsis
"Come out on stage with a smile and a G-string!" That was the advice director Jill Morley got for her first stripper job at Billy's, a neighborhood topless place. The dancers earned $14/set (plus tips)- better than what Jill and other college arts graduates could make. On learning dance skills, she moves to a "gentleman's club". There she meets other dancers and receives the most important advice: keep your career separate from your private life. This documentary is about the dancers and what it takes to have such work. It's sometimes funny, sometimes tragic, always thoughtful. Billie, Vicki, Susan, Angela- we learn from their stories. Go-go dancing is a job, not a sex life; it's addicting. It's being sexy, not sexual; and it requires a lot. The work can be demoralizing, demeaning- but only if you think it so. A dancer observes, better to be the 'bad girl' who sees what men, some men, are really like, then the 'good girl' who doesn't.
