Synopsis

The story of filmmaker Monteith McCollum's grandfather Milford Beeghly. One of the first farmers to experiment with genetically engineered corn, the 100-year-old Beeghly's obsession began in the 1930s-and continues to this day. A meditation on the Midwest, the film delves deep into one family's complex relationships with an eccentric, alienated man who has no capacity for communication, but who finds complete solace in Iowa's rustling cornfields. An unusual portrait of an iconoclastic loner who became, quite literally, outstanding in his field.
