Synopsis
Joe Field and Mary are sweethearts, but when Joe leaves town to find his fortune, Mary becomes engaged to Jimmy Holt, a fine fellow with both money and social standing. Joe returns shortly before the wedding and, when he cannot persuade Mary to return to him, abducts her. He quickly repents of this rash action and starts back to town, but a mechanical breakdown in his car prevents him from returning before morning with Mary. Jim never doubts Mary's chastity and they are married, settling down to a life of children and laughter. Joe returns once again, and Jim invites him to dinner. Joe seems to have become an overdressed, vulgar fellow, and Mary delights in her choice of a husband. Jim, however, knows that Joe's vulgarity has been put on, a final kindness on his part to insure Mary's happiness.
