Synopsis

Lovey Mary, an awkward but affectionate young orphan, grows up in an orphanage and comes to love young Tommy, the child of Kate, a disreputable woman. When Kate comes to take away her child, Lovey and Tommy run away from the orphanage and are given shelter by Miss Hazey, who is about to be married to a correspondent whom she has never seen; Lovey, however, recognizes him as Mr. Stubbins, the exterminator at the orphanage. Lovey becomes friendly with Billy Wiggs, who lives next door, and she works with the Wiggs girls--Asia, Australia, and Europena--in a tomato-canning factory. On the wedding day, Stubbins arrives drunk and exposes Lovey. Learning that Tommy's mother is dying, Lovey sends him back to her, thereby earning the right to keep him when she is happily married to Billy.
