Synopsis

Brokers Beresford Cruger and Peter Barbury face bankruptcy and charges of embezzlement when their partner, Egerton Brown, absconds with $80,000 belonging to their client, Georgia Chapin. Curger soon learns that he will inherit a fortune from his British uncle if he marries an Englishwoman, but resists giving up his American citizenship until his British cousin, Beatrice Carewe, who has been disinherited because of a romance with an American, arrives, and Barbury convinces them to marry for convenience. After many misadventures, Beatrice and Cruger fall in love, Cruger earns $50,000 on a small investment in Wyoming, and is able to retain his American citizenship.
