Synopsis

Documentary about the imprisonment of innocent people for a variety of reasons -- mistaken identity, ineffective lawyers, police misconduct or bad lab procedures. Suspects, lawyers, representatives of the legal system, witnesses and other experts tell their stories in their own words. Two of the cases examined are the 1992 conviction of Beverly Monroe for the death of her wealthy, long-time love, 60-year-old art collector Roger de la Burde in Powhattan, Virginia, and the 1996 conviction of Dale Helmig for the murder of his 55-year-old mother, Norma, who was found floating in the Osage River in Linn, Missouri.
