Popeye sails in search of his father, Poopdeck, who has been missing for forty years. He is captured by the natives of Goonland, and disaster seems inevitable when his strength-giving spinach can rolls away from him. Poopdeck discovers the spinach outside his cell window and, fortified for the first time in 40 years, he breaks out of jail and liberates Popeye. Together they subdue the Goons and head for home.
